documentaries

  • The Game Changers (Netflix, Website)
Presented by James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, Lewis Hamilton, Novak Djokovic and Chris Paul — a revolutionary new film about meat, protein and strength. The documentary follows former UFC fighter James Wilks who, while recovering from an injury, travels the world and talks with elite athletes that follow plant-based diets.

  • Cowspiracy (Netflix, Website)
Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, this film details the devastating environmental impact of animal agriculture. -Follow the shocking, yet humorous, journey of an aspiring environmentalist, as he daringly seeks to find the real solution to the most pressing environmental issues and true path to sustainability.

  • What The Health (Netflix, Website)
Produced by Joaquin Phoenix, this film highlights the overwhelming evidence that animal-based foods are detrimental to our health, and the only reason this knowledge isn't widespread is because of the influence bought by the meat, dairy, and egg industries. -An intrepid filmmaker on a journey of discovery as he uncovers possibly the largest health secret of our time and the collusion between industry, government, pharmaceutical and health organizations keeping this information from us.

  • Forks Over Knives (Amazon, iTunes, Website)
Tackling the health aspects of plant vs animals based foods, this documentary shows how issues like diabetes and heart disease can be treated and even reversed with a simple dietary switch. -The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods.

  • Earthlings (Vimeo, Website)
Narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, this film details the horrors of our dependence on animals for economic gain. The story is broken down into five chapters (pets, food, clothing, entertainment and scientific research). As to be expected when detailing these industries, this one is very graphic and often referred to as The Vegan-Maker. If you really want to know the harsh truth and are committed to attempting a vegan lifestyle, it is worth forcing yourself to watch this at least once.

  • Dominion (YouTube, Website)
Narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, and Sia, this documentary is essentially the Earthlings for the next generation. Using drones, hidden cameras, and underwater recordings, filmmakers visit each type of animal that is exploited for food, clothing, entertainment, etc. Again, as to be expected, content is very graphic and honest. If you can only choose one, we would recommend this over Earthlings based on the updated footage filmmakers obtain from the latest technology.

  • Eating You Alive (Website)
Produced by Chattanoogans, this film documents the transformative stories of more than 100 people who adopted a whole-food, plant-based diet. It features prominent physicians such as Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Michael Greger, and Dr. Neal Barnard, celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson and Penn Jillette, and countless other well known plant-based advocates.
